Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).

Learning Data: We track your course progress, quiz scores, and time spent learning to provide personalized recommendations and progress tracking.

Usage Data: We use privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible) that do not use cookies or track personal data. We collect aggregate page views and feature usage to improve the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: (a) provide and improve the Service; (b) personalize your learning experience with course recommendations; (c) send transactional emails (password reset, course completion certificates); (d) generate quality scores to improve AI-generated content.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in PostgreSQL databases with encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. We use JWT tokens for authentication with httpOnly cookies. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies: (a) authentication tokens (httpOnly, secure); (b) language preference (NEXT_LOCALE); (c) theme preference. We do NOT use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or fingerprinting. Our analytics (Plausible) is privacy-friendly and requires no cookie banner.

5. Third-Party Services

We use: (a) Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, no personal data collected; (b) Resend — for transactional emails only; (c) AI models — for course generation (your prompts are not stored by the AI provider). We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any invasive tracking tools.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to: (a) access your personal data; (b) correct inaccurate data; (c) delete your account and associated data; (d) export your learning progress. Contact us at support@chaptrai.com to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

ChaptrAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
